Upon admission, each guest is assigned a primary substance abuse counselor. One-on-one counseling sessions, at least twice weekly, provide assistance in recognizing and resolving issues that have promoted the addiction, and lead to understanding and acceptance of the recovery principles. By maintaining a low counselor-to-guest ratio, the primary counselor is able to monitor closely and give special attention to each guest.
Group therapy provides a safe, therapeutic environment where the guest receives support from counselors and fellow guests while identifying and addressing his/her problems. It encourages guests to engage in new behaviors and new methods of expression in order to challenge defeatist attitudes and to enhance problem-solving skills.
