PRN Counselor

The PRN Counselor is responsible for covering counselor caseloads when they are out and assisting with programming in the residential and family programs. Responsibilities include individual and group counseling; completing psychosocial assessments, treatment plans, and referrals; documenting treatment progress, orientation, discharge, and related records; presenting didactic materials. is responsible for covering counselor caseloads when they are out and assisting with programming in the residential and family programs. Responsibilities include individual and group counseling; completing psychosocial assessments, treatment plans, and referrals; documenting treatment progress, orientation, discharge, and related records; presenting didactic materials.

The PRN Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for individual, group, and family counseling, facilitating psychoeducational lectures, developing comprehensive assessments, treatment plans, and making appropriate aftercare referrals. They will work as part of a treatment team to ensure continuity of care and patient progress.

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIUMUM EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field

REQUIRED LICENSURE: LCAS or LCAS-A

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years working as a professional counselor

  • Experience in substance abuse counseling (inpatient setting preferred)

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of substance abuse treatment strategies and understanding of 12-Step Recovery

  • Electronic medical record documentation

  • Ability to work independently with in a multi-disciplinary team context

  • Multi-cultural sensitivity

  • Knowledge of Family Systems

  • Ability to present lecture material

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Ability to facilitate expressive and experiential therapies.

  • Experience treating co-occurring disorders and an understanding of DSM-V diagnoses

  • Trauma training
